Why Scouting?
The aim of the Scout Association is to encourage the physical, mental, social and spiritual development of young people so that they may take a constructive place in society as responsible citizens. It is a great place to meet new friends and to give young people the opportunity to do what they want to do. It offers unrivalled opportunities for young people to do something more than sitting on the sofa or hanging around on a street corner. All too often Scouting is seen as an old institution, set in it's ways, but nothing could be further from the truth. Scouting has evolved with the needs of young people and it is this modern approach which ensures we remain the largest youth group worldwide, with over half a million members in the UK alone.
